"Radio of None" by Charmian Devi

Anticipation builds for almost 50 seconds. The song steadily plods along, sticking to a single acoustic guitar chord, while elegant yet slightly ragged vocals hover above it. And then it hits hard in a bluesy explosion of distorted guitar and drums, with those translucent vocals still weaving in and out of the noise like a specter. The second time it comes around, an organ lends its texture to the storm of sound. Rarely has a song so successfully trod the line between calm composure and screaming drama.
